DRESSING IN DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES

Childrens temperature should be around 36.4°C. It is important your toddler is not too hot or too cold, it’s recommended to check your child’s temperature regularly by feeling the back of their neck or using a thermometer

HOT / WARM

25°C - 30°C

  • Short and thin clothing (T-shirt and shorts / Dress / Vest)
  • Hat (if sunny)

20°C - 25°C

  • Short and thin clothing (T-shirt and shorts / Dress)
  • Hat (if sunny)
  • Socks (remove if too hot)
  • Thin jacket (remove if too hot)

15°C - 20°C

  • Thin clothing (T-shirt and trousers / Dress)
  • Hat (if sunny)
  • Socks remove if too hot
  • Jacket (remove if too hot)

COLD / COOL

10°C - 15°C

  • Long and medium thickness clothing (Tracksuit / Dress & Tights)
  • Vest
  • Socks
  • Jacket / Jumper
  • Hat (If outside)
  • Coat (If outside)

5°C - 10°C

  • Long and thick clothing (Tracksuit / Dress & Tights)
  • Long vest
  • Hat & gloves (If outside)
  • Thick socks
  • Thick jacket / Jumper
  • Thick coat (If outside)

0°C - 5°C

  • Long and thick clothing (Tracksuit / Dress & Tights)
  • Long vest
  • Hat & gloves (If outside)
  • Thick socks
  • Thick jacket / Jumper
  • All in one suit (If outside)
  • Explain what you are doing as you are doing it
  • Interact with them, discussing why we need to put clothes on
  • Let them help, toddlers are more willing to do something if they can participate
  • Use short simple words such as ‘left arm in’
