PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Hold bottle or cup without help
  • Eat independently
  • Move in different ways including bending down, crawling, climbing
  • Use finger and thumb to hold things
  • Walk independently and rarely fall
  • Maintain balance sitting or standing while using hands to explore toys
  • Help with getting dressed/undressed
  • Stack objects on top of each other

COMMUNICATION DEVELOPMENT

  • Produce speech-like babbling
  • Enjoy nursery rhymes and join in
  • Obey simple commands
  • Raise hands to be picked up
  • Copy and use a small variety of words
  • Understand simple words 
  • Combine sounds and gesture
  • Respond to simple questions

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Interact with and copy others
  • Maintain eye contact with others
  • Turn head in response to name being called
  • Enjoy playing with others
  • Point to objects of interest

  • Scribble with crayon or pencil
  • Point to a few body parts
  • Enjoy books, stories and songs
  • Know common objects and their use
  • Point to get the attention of others
  • Use pretend and imaginative play
  • Follow basic directions and instructions
  • Enjoy a wide variety of textures, noise, and smells

EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Be happy when not hungry or tired
  • Not startle from everyday sounds
  • Understand routines and not get upset
