PUTTING ON SHOES
PUTTING ON SHOES
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO TEACH YOUR TODDLER INDEPENDENCE. SEE THE GUIDE FOR ADVICE ON HOW TO TEACH YOUR CHILD TO PUT THEIR SHOES ON.
HELPFUL TIPS
Your toddler’s shoes should be easy to put on
It is recommended that shoes for toddlers are supportive and have velcro straps or are easy to fasten
If your child is unable to do it, don’t just do it for them. Work together and help them to do it themselves
PUTTING ON SHOES IN 3 EASY STEPS
OPEN THE SHOE
Ask your child to get their shoes
Get them to sit down and put each shoe in front of the correct foot
Encourage them to undo the strap
PUT FOOT IN
Slowly put their foot in their shoes, explaining how you do it
Ask them to take the shoe off
Encourage your child to put the shoe on by themself
CLOSE THE SHOE
When correctly on their foot, show your toddler how to fasten their shoes
Ask them to unfasten them
Encourage them to fasten their shoes by themselves
