BREAST MILK

STORING BREAST MILK

  • Sterilized container or bottle or milk storage bag
  • In the fridge for 8 days (4°C or lower)
  • Chilled milk in a cool bag with ice packs for 24 hours
  • In the freezer for 6 months (-18°C or lower)

FREEZING AND DEFROSTING

  • Date milk before freezing
  • Put milk in the fridge to defrost slowly
  • Put in a jug of warm water if needed straight away
  • Always shake the milk when defrosted
  • Do not refreeze breast milk
  • Do not put milk in microave
